Tonight, I was at the private viewing of the photographer, Robert Whitaker. Whitaker had the opportunity of meeting the Beatles in Melbourne 1964. From which time he formed a good friendship and toured with them taking some very personal images of the band.
The exhibition is at Proud Chelsea, Kings Road.
The images are in analogue and the quality is amazing. I personally prefer the colour photographs. It was interesting to hear that a lot of the guests still thought that analogue was better quality than digital. But then again they weren’t using mobs to take their photographs!
Bryony has her debut exhibition of wonderful unique pop-art canvases showing at The Strand Gallery. Her images are a mix of painting layered with relevant newspapers and memorabilia.
For example, her Amy Winehouse image has sentimental tube ticket journeys on. The opening night of the exhibition was on 5th May. Shame it’s only there for the week.
What makes her images so special is that they are all one-offs.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
